Giuliano Gold, Enamel And Pearl Fringe Necklace
An exquisite necklace by Carlo Giuliano. Carlo Giuliano was known for his intricate renaissance-revival jewellery, which featured fine enamel work and gem-set decorations. Examples of his jewellery are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and others. This fringed necklace features an elaborate collar of enamelled beads. Dropped from the beads are alternating fringe details. Every other fringe has bright colourful enamel detail, and all the fringe details end in three seed pearls. The combination of colourful enamel, bright yellow gold and lustrous pearls is exuberant and detailed and exemplary of Giulianos work. Joanna Hardy says: A collectors necklace and a stunning example of Carlo Giulianos enamel work. This necklace is a Victorian revival jewel inspired by Egyptian and Indian jewellery design. It is also a fine example of how a goldsmith has paid attention to the necklace in the round, and not just the front. For any jewellery connoisseur, this necklace would be instantly recognisable as a quality jewel. Great condition and beautifully articulated, so it would fit comfortably.
