Early Victorian Blue Enamel And Pearl Locket

A wonderfully Victorian locket pendant. This charming locket is set with midnight-blue enamel, in which is set a pearl star. The gentle sheen of the pearls and the warmth of the gold setting compliment beautifully the deep blue of the enamel. To the back of the locket there is a glass compartment, held in which is a lock of hair. This is a romantic and sentimental piece, and an excellent example of early Victorian craftsmanship. Joanna Hardy says: €œLovely condition. The rich, royal blue enamel contrasts well with the half pearls. The engine-turned engraving behind the enamel makes the enamel glisten. To the reverse is a hair compartment with a lock of hair.€
