A 19th Century Gold & Turquoise Locket Ring

A yellow and rose gold locket ring with turquoise accents. The oval lid depicts the bust of Louis Antoine deBourbon, Duke of Angoulême, (1775-1844) crowned with a laurel wreath. Surrounding the bust is a border with the inscription €˜L€™Espagne le bénit, L€™Europe l€™admire€™ (Spain blesses him, Europe admires him) With an additional inscription inside €˜reveil de la cloire francaise€™ (Awakening of French glory). Circa 1820. Josephine Odet says: “Antique rings with compartments (such as locket rings and poison rings) are rare survivors. This is a complete one of a kind and there is something so fascinating about it as it represents a very brief moment in time for Louis Antoine deBourbon, Duke of Angoulême, (1775-1844). This ring is a true conversation piece”
