Oval Unheated Tanzanite, 5.66cts, 11.9×9.8mm. Tanzania Joanna Hardy says: “It is very rare to find a tanzanite of this quality that has not been heated. To see tanzanite’s natural trichorism (the three colours seen in different orientations of the stone) is rare, as you only see dichroism (two colours) in heated stones. Its relatively low hardness means that this stone is more suitable for setting in a jewel that will not be knocked about, like a pendant, not a ring.”
